Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and flexible Food Coordinator to join ourApplecrossteam. The role is preparing and cooking nutritional meals for the children in our service. The position is 5 hours a day,8am-1pm, Monday to Friday.
While you may not be directly working with the children, you must have a warm and friendly nature. It is possible that you will be required to answer a variety of questions including but not limited to; who you are, what you are cooking, and ‘But why’.
Relationshipsare important within our team, as effective teamwork provides stability, job satisfaction and helps us navigate the day successfully. We have events for our team outside work hours such as our end of year expo, staff dinners, bus rallies and even nights away so we can relax and celebrate our successes together.

We believe that mealtimes are a great social experience where all children sit together to share a meal. In partnership, our role is to help develop healthy meal options and provide children with whole foods and healthy food choices during this time.

The Role The role requires an experienced cook, with a similar philosophy, to deliver healthy and nutritionally balanced meals for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
Preparation and cooking of meals (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea).
Menu planning in accordance to management approval and centre budget.
Ensure familiarity of dietary requirements of children within the centre.
Ensure that a high level of hygiene, health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Essential Criteria
Experience in a home or commercial kitchen, is preferred.
Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain.
Food Safety Supervisor training course or willingness to enrol.
Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment.
Passionate about delivering healthy meals to children.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Can-do attitude.
