Early Childhood Educator (Short Term Contract positions for remainder of 2025)
Monash Children's Centre is a not for profit community based centre located on the border of Monash University Clayton campus. We are an integrated Long Day Care and Kindergarten service. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the early childhood profession. The successful applicant would be joining an experienced team who work in a collaborative and reflective manner. Our centre is friendly, supportive, diverse and has a strong focus on play-based learning. We are awarded with an Exceeding National Standards rating in all areas of our National Quality Standards review.
We have short term contract positions available for the remainder of 2025, concluding on our last working day for 2025, which is 23rd December. The positions are on a variety of days and we are able to take expressions of interest for most combinations of days. Candidates must be available during our operating hours of 7:15am to 6:30pm. Our short term contracts often evolve into ongoing positions in future years. All shifts are on rotating rosters with the earliest possible shift finishing at 4:30pm. It is important to note that we will not be able to meet set shift requests and require staff who have the flexibility to work within our rostering hours.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and interaction skills prior to interviewing. Applicants must have centre based experience and relevant qualifications clearly listed in a resume. The successful candidate will have a commitment to high quality practice and have a solid understanding of the program planning cycle, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).
Conditions of employment are based on the Professional Childcare Standard 2025. Educators are rewarded with above award pay rates, additional weekly planning time, extensive professional development and paid maternity and study leave entitlements as per centre policy.
Key Selection Criteria:
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education (equivalent or greater), current Working with Children Check, up to date COVID vaccination status, anaphylaxis, first aid and CPR training
Experience working in Early Childhood Services
Solid understanding of child development, EYLF and NQS
Well developed interpersonal and communication skills with both children and adults
Excellent problem solving, self-motivation, initiative, resourcefulness and goal orientation abilities

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the centre as a volunteer for 3 hours prior to the 21st September. We find that the Volunteer time is beneficial for both the candidate and the centre. Many candidates also find this time helpful in giving them a sense of belonging, which settles the nerves, for the interview phase.
