Family Day Care Australia (FDCA) is currently running a trial program and looking for new educators who want to establish their own family day care business. Approved educators will receive start-up funding and support following validation and assessment.

As a family day care educator, you run your own small business while being supported by an approved family day care service provider in your local area. This means that while youβre building your own business, you have the support of a family day care service who will help guide you on your journey in providing quality childcare to children in your home or approved residence.
Who are we? We areFamily Day Care Australia(FDCA), the national peak body for family day care. For over 30 years, we have supported, represented, and promoted family day care services and educators across the country.
We are seeking educators from early childhood education and care (ECEC) settings, as well as individuals who may be new to the sector but are working towards a minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

The Recruitment and Approval Process The recruitment and approval process to become a family day care educator involves the following steps:
- **Initial Process:**Meet with FDCA for an initial consultation to review requirements, what you need to work towards and if you qualify for start-up funding. During this process you will have the opportunity to ask questions, gain valuable insights into the family day care sector, and learn about the unique benefits for you, the children and the families you will support.
- **Local Service Introduction:**Once your application is complete, FDCA will introduce you to a local family day care service of your choice. Your approved service will engage in regular visits to ensure you have what you need and are supported in the education and care you are providing.
- **Home/Dwelling Inspection:**Your home/dwelling will be inspected and assessed to ensure it meets all the required safety and quality standards., (FDCA can provide a self-assessment tool to assist you when considering a setting/dwelling). Qualifications and Requirements You will need to obtain (or be actively working towards) the following:
- An approved Certificate III or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care.
- First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Training in asthma and anaphylaxis management.
- Appropriate clearance for working with children (for yourself and anyone 18+ residing in the residence).
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check completed within the last 6 months (FDCA can provide this)
- Public liability insurance (FDCA can provide this).
- Be an Australian Citizen or hold a permanent resident visa.
