Are you an experienced cook or head chef who takes pride in preparing nourishing meals and creating a welcoming environment? Our brand-new Tall Tree Early Learning Centre in White Gum Valley is looking for a Food Coordinator who brings warmth, professionalism, and organisation to our kitchen and our community.

Our spacious, purpose-built kitchen with modern appliances is located at the heart of the centre, directly near the entrance. This makes your role pivotalnot only in preparing meals but in greeting families and children each day, contributing to a friendly, nurturing atmosphere from the moment they walk in.

About the Role

As our Food Coordinator, you will lead the kitchen with professionalism and care, preparing nutritious, high-quality meals, maintaining an organised and hygienic workspace, and warmly engaging with children, families, and staff to create a welcoming, positive environment each day.

• Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals and snacks daily for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years

• Adapt meals for allergies, intolerances, and developmental stages

• Manage weekly ordering, budgeting, and stock control

• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen organisation

• Engage warmly with children and families, helping create a welcoming and positive start to the day

• Collaborate with educators to foster a calm and enjoyable mealtime experience

• Participate in quarterly Food Coordinator meetings for ongoing learning and team collaboration

This permanent, part-time role offers consistent Monday to Friday hours with a minimum of 33 per week, providing excellent work-life balance.

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate is someone who brings both skill and heart to the role:

• Experienced and confident in a commercial or early learning kitchen, with prior head chef experience highly valued.

• Skilled at preparing high-quality meals for groups with diverse dietary needs, ensuring each child receives nutritious and thoughtfully prepared food.

• Qualified in food handling, commercial cookery, or food safety, with a strong commitment to maintaining rigorous hygiene and organisational standards.

• Warm, approachable, and engaging, with a genuine enjoyment in connecting with children, families, and colleagues to foster a welcoming and positive environment.

• Organised, proactive, and reliable, taking pride in planning, stock management, and seamless kitchen operations.

• Confident in clear communication and collaboration with educators and management, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team.

• Holds a current Working with Children Check and Australian working rights, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

You will understand the critical importance of allergies and dietary requirements, ensuring strict compliance with processes to prevent cross-contamination and maintain the highest standards of food safety for every child.
