Our Growth
We are entering an exciting period of growth, with approval to roll out three-year-old preschool from 2026. To ensure the success of this initiative for our children, families, and wider community, we are expanding our teaching team with additional qualified teachers who share our passion for high-quality early childhood education.
The Opportunity
If you enjoy putting on your gumboots and jumping in muddy puddles, roasting marshmallows around the fire on a cold winterโs day, view risky play as essential to childrenโs holistic development, are dedicated to an all-weather program where 80% of the day is spent outdoors, and can identify intentional teaching moments within childrenโs open-ended play โ then this is the role for you!
The Centre
Pooraka Community Early Education and Care is a non-profit organisation that has been proudly serving families for over 30 years. It is also home to Yawarra Nature Preschool, where children have the unique opportunity to learn and grow in a one-hectare outdoor learning environment. We are now seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time position (negotiable) where you will play a vital role in taking our program to new and exciting levels.

A teacher with a deep understanding of Nature Play and Loose Parts Play.
A professional who believes children are capable and competent learners.
A collaborative team player who values working alongside likeminded, dedicated educators.
Strong verbal and written communication, planning, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities

Build strong, respectful relationships with families and caregivers and actively participate in community events.
Support and mentor colleagues in planning for and documenting childrenโs learning.
Deliver a high-quality preschool program aligned with the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, Literacy and Numeracy Indicators, and the 8 Ways of Aboriginal Learning.
Contribute to the care and education of all children across the centre.
Follow all centre policies and procedures.
Actively support the centreโs Quality Improvement Plan.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or currently working towards this qualification).
Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
Current RRHAN-EC Training.
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis certification
