Preschool Educator
Boongaiai Preschool is seeking a caring and reliable diploma-qualified assistant to support provision of Steiner Education for young children, grounded in the principals of play-based learning and stages of child development.
Closing Date: Sunday 31 August
Salary: Attractive salary in-line with Industry Standards.
Working Hours: Full Time
Reports to: Nominated Supervisor and ECT/Educational Leader
Position Overview
As a Preschool Assistant and Early Childhood Educator at Boongaiai Preschool, you will play a vital role in the development of child during their foundational years. Working collaboratively with the Educational Leader and Nominated Supervisor, you will help create a warm, nurturing, and intentional environment grounded in the principles of Steiner education and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). You will bring creativity, care, and professionalism to your daily workโcontributing to planning, child observations, and providing meaningful experiences that honour the individuality of each child. Through respectful relationships and a deep connection to seasonal rhythms, you will support a preschool community where children and families feel seen, supported, and inspired.
About Us
The Boongaiai Preschool is a longstanding pillar of the Armidale education community. Founded 40 years ago in response to parentsโ desire for Steiner Education, the preschool grew to become the foundation of The Armidale Waldorf School (Classes Kโ12). Together, we are proud to offer Steiner Education to families from Playgroup through to Class 12.
Boongaiai Preschool and The Armidale Waldorf School are currently experiencing a period of growth, creating new opportunities for permanent full-time staff within the preschool. We are seeking experienced and dedicated Early Childhood educators who will warmly guide children and their families through these foundational years.
Our approach to education is holistic and dynamic, recognising the intellectual, creative, and spiritual development of each child. The preschool fosters a nurturing and inclusive community, where students, educators, staff, and parents are valued as unique individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging learning experiences in alignment with the EYLF and Steiner principles
Support the holistic wellbeing, health, and development of children
Assist with documenting childrenโs progress and contribute to learning journals and displays
Collaborate with the teaching team in preparing a warm, beautiful, and intentional learning environment
Participate in staff meetings, planning cycles, festivals, and seasonal rhythms
Ensure compliance with service policies and contribute to the NQF standards
Establish nurturing and respectful relationships with children, colleagues, and families
Selection Criteria:
Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care
Strong understanding of the EYLF and NQF
Interest in Steiner education or willingness to learn
Excellent communication, flexibility, and initiative
