Job Description
Centre Cook
Fulltime – 7am – 3pm Monday to Friday
In this role, you will:
· work in partnership with families and educators in preparing meals that meet children's dietary requirements including those with allergies and additional needs.
· provide healthy and nutritious snacks and meals for children
· maintain the environment in line with Bright Starts Food Safety Program
· co-ordinate the purchasing and ordering of supplies to reflect the menu
· prepare meals daily for 148 children
· work as a part of a team, supporting and contributing to Bright Starts Philosophy and Code of Ethics
· Supervise and support the kitchen hand.
Responsibilities:
Monday to Friday
· Menu planning, supplies ordering and budgeting
· Upkeep and cleaning of kitchen facilities and equipment
· Implement rotational menus
· Ensure that all meals prepared meet the special dietary needs of the children with allergies & cultural preferences
· Ensure safe and hygienic storage, handling and preparation of food and drinks
· Maintain positive customer relations with families and children
· Maintain a positive relationship with educators/staff at the centre and contribute to the Quality Improvement Plan.
Must haves:
· Relevant food handling certificates
· A current Working with Children Check
· A friendly and positive attitude
· Experience and passion for creating healthy children's meals
· Excellent time management and verbal communication skills
· Experience working in a child care setting will be highly regarded, however not necessary
