Childcare centre Cook | Part time | Pendle Hill

Whiz Kidz Preschool & Early Learning Centre is seeking a Chef, for our 100-place service in Pendle Hill. This is a permanent part-time position working minimum of 24 hours a week, Monday/ Thursday/ Friday, ideally 7am - 3pm, to job share with our existing Cook.

As our Centre Chef you will be greeted each day by our children who, in turn will become your toughest critics. We are looking for someone who loves cooking for children and families, enjoys creating healthy and interesting, and sharing your passion for food and cooking with children.

The successful candidate will take pride in having empty plates returned to the kitchen, knowing children have enjoyed their food.

In this role, you will create delicious meals for our children aged between 6 weeks and 6 years, ensuring the highest hygienic standards and best practice food safety are always upheld within the kitchen.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

Preparing wholesome, child-friendly meals for up to 80 children daily (morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack)

Designing rotating seasonal menus that follow nutritional guidelines and accommodate allergies, cultural needs, and dietary restrictions

Managing food orders, minimising waste, and working within budget

Maintaining a clean, organised, and inviting kitchen that complies with all food safety regulations

Keeping up-to-date records, including allergen and food safety documentation

Supporting special events, cultural celebrations, and parent engagement around food

What We’re Looking For:

Experience as a chef or cook — ideally in childcare, aged care, or similar community settings

Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Strong organisation skills, reliability, and a love for running a tidy, efficient kitchen

A warm, caring approach to cooking — meals made with heart and purpose

Someone who enjoys being part of a team and contributing to a positive, home-like environment for children
