Kowanyama is one of the largest communities on the Cape York peninsula with a population just over 1000 people. Most residents are Traditional Owners. The community includes the Kokoberra, Yir Yoront (or Kokomenjen) and Kunjen clans, who each have language and other cultural differences. Language groups associated with the Kowanyama region include Yir Yoront, Yirrk Thangalkl, Koko Bera, Uw Oykangand, and Olkola. English is also widely spoken.

What you’ll do

• Lead a team of educators to facilitate the planning and delivery of the educational program in accordance with National Quality Standards, and relevant Early Years Learning Frameworks
• Ensure that programming practices align with the service philosophy
• Ensure the practices of all educators are in accordance with the NQS and reflect the philosophy, policies and procedures of the service
• Lead the development of the curriculum and provide mentoring to educators within the service
• Communicate effectively with children and families
• Work as a part of a team, supporting and contributing to One Tree as a community in line with One Tree's Philosophy, Code of Ethics and Strategic Intent

The successful candidate must be able to act as the Educational Leader

Requirements

• Eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Kowanyama
• Diploma in Early Childhood/ACECQA approved equivalent
• A current QLD Working with Children Check
• Satisfactory National Police Clearance
• First Aid & CPR certificates or willing to obtain
