Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) – Riversdale Early Learning Centre

Permanent Part-time or Full-Time (flexible for the right candidate)

We’re looking for an Early Childhood Teach (ECT), who is a natural at engaging with children, families and their peers. You’ll be a big believer in play-based learning and creating warm and nurturing environments to develop all the social and emotional skills for the children’s ‘big school journey’. You will work extremely well as a team player, as this may be a role working alongside other ECT's as job share or as additional support to meet the needs of all children.

Riversdale Early Learning is a unique centre in that both our Director and Owner are both qualified ECT’s so you’ll be working with supportive Leaders that fully understand your journey as an ECT and the challenges any ECT may face throughout their day-to-day work in preparing children for school.

You'll enjoy creating the type of room environment where children can't wait to enter, parents entering the room will sense the organisation, excitement and ‘learning’ in what you have planned for the children's development that day. And they'll leave the room knowing their child will have an awesome day.

If you are an experienced ECT looking for a full-time role (or consideration given to Permanent Part-time candidates), who would be open on occasion, to covering other ECT’s holiday periods full time in short bursts, you may be the right fit for this role, especially if you’re passionate and have the following attributes:

Above all else, you'll know how to meet children where they're at and you won't try to shoe-horn children into a strict teacher led routine. You'll know that getting the best out of children only happens when we meet their emotional needs and help them feel secure in their environment.

You'll believe in play based learning and slow pedagogy and put that into your every day practices.

Thorough knowledge of the QLD Kindergarten Early Learning Guidelines

Strong understanding and strategies in educating the children of today and balancing the dynamic in a Kindergarten room. (these children were likely the first babies born during he Covid pandemic, so we know our connection points with them need to be strong and supportive reaching them on their level & responses)

A focus on children centred activities

Strong communication skills, with practical experience in communicating well with the family group, children, leaders, local schools, and your Educator peers.

Preferably experience in writing transition statements, and tailored transition statements for children as they enter their first year of school.

Knowledge and practical experience in applying enquiry-based teaching, and leveraging the children’s curiosity for learning opportunities.

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or equivalent (recognised by ACECQA as an early childhood teaching qualification) OR Bachelor of Primary Teaching with approved diploma level qualification or enrolled and studying toward

Knowledge of National Quality Framework and Standards ("NQF" and "NQS"), the Early Years Learning Framework ("EYLF")

Current First Aid, CPR

Hold or willing to obtain a paid Blue Card

An understanding of the provision of a safe, well planned indoor and outdoor learning environment

Skilled with documenting observations of children's behaviour and development, in the form of learning stories
