Head Chef

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Head Chef to join our team and run the kitchen at our Frenchville Childcare Service. Our goal is providing healthy and nutritious meals to the children in our care. We are a reasonably new state of the art Childcare Centre situated in the heart of North Rockhampton, catering for 96 children a day.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to food safety standards at all times
• Implements and follows Food Safety Program at all times
• Creates and displays the Service menu – in consultation with other Team Members, children’s individual requirements and season variations.
• Prepares meals as per the Service menu.
• Prepare and provide nutritionally balanced and appropriate meals for all children, taking into consideration their individual dietary requirements and allergies.
• Purchases / Orders food weekly – ensure food is fresh and temperature records are kept.
• Assists Kitchen Hand/Kitchen Assistant to serve and pack away after meals as required.
• Cleans kitchen daily and follow a cleaning routine for all appliances /areas of the kitchen.
• (microwave, oven etc.).
• Ensure health and safety guidelines are adhered to in the kitchen, including food preparation and servicing areas
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, ensuring that general day to day procedures are followed
• Interact and engage with all children and families, building meaningful relationships.
• Maintain a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen and with all team members
• Work collaboratively with other team members on a range of projects unique to this service

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Food Safety Supervisor Qualifications
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
• Experience in a commercial kitchen preparing food for a large number of people/children.
• High level of experience and up to date knowledge of food regulations and record keeping
• Hold a Queensland Working with Children card (Blue card) or the ability to obtain.
• Frist Aid Level 2 including CPR
• Anaphylaxis & Asthma Management Certificate (preferred)
