Job Description
We are looking for aKitchen Handto join our team. This position combines typical kitchen hand responsibilities—such as food preparation, cleaning, and dishwashing—with an educator’s focus on child well-being, nutrition, and safety within the St Luke’s community.
The role involves supporting meal delivery, understanding dietary needs, maintaining food safety standards, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
The Educator Kitchen Hand will need:
A current Working with Vulnerable People card
First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Food Safety and Handling certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (or willingness to obtain)
Key Responsibilities

**Food Preparation & Service:**Assist with washing, chopping, and preparing ingredients, heating and serving meals, and setting up platters for children.
**Hygiene & Food Safety:**Ensure all food preparation and storage adhere to food safety regulations, maintain food hygiene standards, and understand different dietary requirements and allergies.
**Cleaning & Sanitation:**Wash dishes, clean kitchen equipment, wipe down surfaces, and maintain general cleanliness of the kitchen, children’s dining room, and food preparation areas.
**Stock Management:**Unpack and store food items, replenish containers, and maintain a clean and organised pantry and fridge.
**Child-Centric Focus:**Support the health and well-being of children by preparing nutritious food and fostering a positive environment within the centre.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with chefs and educators to deliver high-quality food services.
